A pub in Co Roscommon owned by former Fianna Fáil politician Terry Leyden and his family has been broken into.
The burglary happened at the Castlecoote Lodge, Bar and Replica Dáil and Seanad Lounge in Castlecoote overnight.
Thieves smashed their way into the popular pub and robbed a significant sum of cash.
They also smashed the pool table and took money from it.
The Leyden family says they are very upset that their business has been broken into for the first time since it opened 13 years ago.
They say burglaries are happening too often in rural Ireland, but the business is back open tonight.
