A food enterprise centre in Roscommon is to receive close to €700,000 in new government funding.
An Chistín Food Hub at the Castlerea Enterprise centre has been allocated €680,000 through the Rural Regeneration Development Fund.
The funding will be administered through Roscommon County Council to progress the development of the food business incubation units.
An Chistín Food Hub provides business development supports, below market rental space and access to shared specialized equipment to accelerate the development of small businesses.
The centre was awarded €1.5 million euro in 2019 to launch the unit, with today's funding set to progress phase 2 of the development.
Chair of the Enterprise Castlerea team, Benny O'Connell says the funding will get the ball rolling and allow the development of a client space.
