The Shannonside region has seen a significant jump in the amount of people entering the workforce in the first three months 2022 compared to last year.
New figures from the CSO have detailed the rise across Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon compared to last November when the country was still in the midst of many Covid regulations.
The Central Statistics Offices has confirmed that over 800,000 people over the age of 15 are currently working in the Midlands, Mid west and North West region of the country. According to new figures, 437,000 people are working in the Mid-western counties including Roscommon and Galway up from 428,000 last year. Counties such as Leitrim, Sligo, and Donegal are seeing increases of 7,000 people in the labour force up from 232,000 in November 2021. While in Longford, Westmeath and Laois, an extra 6,000 people entered into employment in the last 11 months.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted number of people who are unemployed stands at 114-thousand-700 as of September.
The biggest drop in unemployment was seen in the Dublin region, which recorded 9-thousand fewer people out of work.
