A former priest, who was nicknamed ‘The Singing Priest,’ has been sent forward for trial on historic child abuse charges.
Tony Walsh, formerly of North Circular Road in Dublin, is accused of sexually abusing a boy in the 1980s.
In the late 1970s, Tony Walsh used to perform as an Elvis impersonator with an All Priests Show, which earned him the nickname, ‘The Singing Priest’.
The 67-year-old is facing two counts of indecent assault.
The complaint was made two years ago but the alleged assaults are said to have taken place in Dublin between January 1983 and December 1985.
Mr Walsh was served with a book of evidence in court today.
He has yet to indicate how he’ll plead, but the DPP has directed that he be tried on indictment so he was sent forward for trial today.
His next hearing will be before a higher court in October.
