Roscommon TD Claire Kerrane has revealed a review of every Sinn Fein members performance including lead Mary Lou McDonald in the wake of the election results.
The Sinn Fein first preference vote share has been in the low single digits in the Roscommon-Athlone and Roscommon LEA’s.
When asked on Shannonside FM if the parties 2024 election review would include the performance of party leader Mary Lou McDonald, Kerrane said: “It’ll include the performance of everybody in the party. I’m a sitting TD and I suppose every TD is a leader to some extent in their own county”.
“Everything will be under the spotlight. Leadership across the board will be under the spotlight. As we did in 2019 and we learnt lessons then and we’ll learn lesson this time and that’s politics and that’s how it should work”.
“But yes we’ll be looking at this election top to bottom as we should” added Kerrane.
Kerrane was elected as Sinn Fein’s first TD for Roscommon in the 2020 general election. Kerrane was quick to dismiss the suggestion Sinn Fein ran too many candidates this time.
“In 2020 we were told we didn’t run enough. We were ambitious this time. They ran positive campaigns, which I’m happy with”.
“We gave it everything, at the end of the day, the electorate voted and that’s how it works, that’s politics”.
