Sinn Fein's newly returned TD in Longford Westmeath Sorca Clarke says she will represent both counties equally. Deputy Clarke was elected to the second seat in the Constituency on Count 13, taking 80% percent of her running mate Barry Campion's transfers. After a new seat was added to the constituency bringing the total to five, many across Longford had hoped to return two TDs to the Dail.
This was not the case and while Fine Gael's Micheál Carrigy gained a seat, outgoing Fianna Fail TD Joe Flaherty lost his. Responding to concerns that Longford has one TD compared to Westmeath's four, Deputy Clarke says she will represent the people of both counties equally:
