Workers at St Brigid's mental health unit in Ballinasloe have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action in a row with the HSE over outsourcing of work.
The health care assistants and social care workers were balloted last week by SIPTU for action in a row over work previously carried out by their members which they claim has been outsourced to agencies without consultation.
The HSE claims that the recent transition to independent living for people with intellectual disabilities in the Ballinasloe area has been successful and with appropriate support.
However, SIPTU claims that the actions taken by HSE West are in breach of public service agreements.
