A third of Bank of Ireland branches will shut their doors for the final time as part of significant changes to the bank.
The closures were announced back in March but come into effect at the end of business today.
Bank of Ireland says the 88 branches which are closing have seen a 60 per cent reduction in footfall since 2017.
Six Bank of Ireland branches in the Shannonside region are also closing today.
Customers in Elphin, Strokestown, Drumshanbo, Granard, Manorhamilton and Ballygar will have to travel to other local towns to conduct their businesses with branches.
Sheena McDermott who runs a taxi and travel business in Strokestown says people in the town are very frustrated.
