6 per cent of adults in Ireland are living with symptoms of long COVID.
That's the finding of a new poll carried out by Ireland Thinks for Roscommon - Galway TD Denis Naughten.
He's calling on the Government to treat patients with ongoing symptoms with the same urgency as the initial wave of infections.
Deputy Naughten says long covid clinics must be opened across the country to help them.
"These are the people that are self-declaring as having issues such as fatigue, memory problems, shortness of breath, muscle ache, and sleep problems. Clearly long covid is a big issue in this country, it's putting hige pressure on our health services, and it is of the utmost priority that the HSE ensures that the long covid clinics they promised are delivered"
