A total of 235 new Gardai have been sent to stations in this region in the last eight years according to figures from the Minister for Justice.
The majority of probationer Gardaí were sent to Dublin - which accounts for 44% of the total of new recruits who have passed out of Templemore since 2015.
A total of 3871 newly attested Gardai have qualified as members of the force since 2015 up to the end of January this year.
However, just 6 percent of those Gardai were sent to work in garda station in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
According to information released by the Justice Minister, a total of 138 newly qualified Gardai began their careers in the force in Cavan/Monaghan, 58 in Sligo Leitrim, and just 39 in Roscommon-Longford- the second-lowest figure in the country behind the Mayo division.
Over 40 percent of all new Garda recruits begin their career in Dublin garda stations - the next biggest allocation went to Cork,
Just eight new Gardai began work in the region last year - out of a total of 148 newly qualified recruits.
