Almost 60 percent of teenagers are getting less than the required amount of sleep since the Covid 19 restrictions.
A survey by Plant Youth of 15 and 16 year olds in Roscommon, Galway, and Mayo in 2020 has shown that 59 percent are going to bed much later than they were the previous year, sometimes up to three hours later.
That's up from 50 percent 2018.
The organisation is organising two webinars on the importance of sleep with consultant Lucy Wolfe.
The first takes place this Wednesday at 7pm for parents of national school children with the focus on the teenager group on Wednesday week.
People can register via the Plant Youth website.
Co-ordinator of the programme Emmet Major outlines how the lack of sleep can have dramatic consequences for young people.
