A Sligo councillor has been selected as Fianna Fáil's candidate to contest the next general election in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency. Cllr Edel McSharry was elected as a first time candidate in the Sligo/Drumcliffe Local Electoral Area in June.
She was the only candidate put forward to contest the Fianna Fáil selection convention after Cllr Paul Taylor and Keith Henry withdrew from the race. Darragh O'Connor spoke to Cllr McSharry earlier this afternoon to discuss her selection as the Fianna Fáil candidate in the constituency:
