We'll find out who will become Junior Ministers in the Government this afternoon. A record 23 politicians will get the nod. Sligo-Leitrim TD Frank Feighan is set to miss out however, Shannonside FM understands. Tánaiste Simon Harris is under pressure to appoint more women to junior ministerial positions and sources say Feighan may miss out as a result. Athlone TD Kevin 'Boxer' Moran and Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin are already assured of ministers of state roles. While it's believed Longford-Westmeath Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy and Fianna Fáil TD for Roscommon-Galway Martin Daly remain in the running.
Former Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Michael Scally, says it's a disappointment for the region that Feighan is missing out. Speaking to Shannonside News, he said the west and northwest has been left short of junior ministers:
