The family of a pensioner left in a coma following a burglary at his home, says they hope and pray his condition continues to improve.
73-year-old Tom Niland was put on life-support after the incident, which happened in January in Skreen in County Sligo.
Three men have been charged in connection with aggravated burglary.
Tom's cousin, Michael Walsh, says while there has been a small bit of progress, it is wonderful news:
"The fact is that he has opened his eye and he's able to respond you know in a very small way. It's not a major, but at least it hasn't gone the other way."
