Snow showers are being forecast for parts of the Shannonside region tonight.
Parts of Leitrim, North Roscommon, and Longford are likely to experience some snowfall overnight.
According to Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel, some of the showers could be heavy.
He also says that, due to the recent cold temperatures, accumulations of snow are likely.
"We will see some very heavy showers pushing in off the Atlantic. They're likely to affect the north west part of the region, so parts of Leitrim, parts of northern Roscommon, parts of Longford, and Cavan and Monaghan too. Those areas are likely to experience some falls of snow overnight. The heaviest falls will likely be more to the north and north-west of the region but again here we could see a couple of centimeters falling overnight leading to some disruption on the roads tomorrow morning. It's likely that these snow showers will stick tonight".
A status yellow snow/ice warning for Leitrim is now in effect until 9am tomorrow morning
Also, from half 5 this evening, a status yellow snow/ice warning will come info effect for Roscommon, Longford, and Westmeath until 9 o'clock tomorrow morning.
