A nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness around the benefits of social farming continues this week with events taking place across the country.
The initiative is being organised by Social Farming Ireland, who are based in Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim.
Social farming offers people who are socially, physically, mentally or intellectually disadvantaged an opportunity to spend time on a family farm in a healthy, supportive and inclusive environment.
Farms across the country are hosting open days every day this week, aimed at increasing participation in the initiative.
Speaking to Shannonside News, Helen Doherty of Social Farming Ireland, explains:
