Liam Farrell, 87, was found dead at the back of his house in Rooskey almost five years ago.

A son of a Leitrim man who died in suspicious circumstances says he would like his father's body to be exhumed, to help to solve the case.

Liam Farrell, 87, was found dead at the back of his house in Rooskey almost five years ago.

His family believes he was assaulted, and an inquest delivered an open verdict in September.

It emerged at the inquest a forensic pathologist did not examine Liam's body as the case was not deemed suspicious at the time.

His son Willie says that was a mistake.

Garda commissioner Drew Harris recently ordered a review of the garda investigation into Liam's death.

This involves a senior investigating officer examining the original garda investigation.

Willie says the Farrell family is meeting this officer in Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday.
