A community in south Roscommon has launched a charity in recent days in an effort to help two little brothers.
The charity “The Noah and Rowan Benson Gately Support Group” and the local community has rallied round to raise funds to help the two boys who’ve been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The boys are aged 6 and 4 and both have been diagnosed with the rage genetic disease which causes muscles to weaken, and for which there is no known cure.
The boy’s parents say it’s not the life they had hoped for their children and the road ahead will be tough.
A Go Fund me page has been set up with a target of €100,000 and almost €15,000 has been raised so far.
The rare disease is also affecting brothers Archie, George and Isaac Naughten in Roscommon town and funds are being raised to build a fully adapted house for the boys who are all using wheelchairs.
