Independent councillor Emer Kelly is seriously considering running in the general election in Roscommon-Galway - and may stand for Independent Ireland.
She topped the poll in the local elections in the Athlone local electoral area in June, at the age of only 24.
The Ballyforan woman was co-opted onto the council in 2021, in place of Ivan Connaughton.
And she is considering throwing her hat in the ring for the forthcoming general election.
There is speculation Independent Ireland's Michael Fitzmaurice will move to Galway East - leaving a vacancy in Roscommon-Galway.
Councillor Kelly hasn't ruled out joining the party.
