Roscommon planners have green lit a substantial expansion to a solar park in the south of the county.
TDC Community Solar Park Limited applied for a development encompassing 60 hectares at Taduff East and West, Creagh, Cuilglass and Athlone in County Roscommon.
The panels will be mounted on steel frames 3 metres high, with accompanying infrastructure including string inverters and up to 13 transformer stations.
Also included in the plans are Security fencing, CCTV camera stands and internal access roads.
Permission has been granted for a period of ten years with an operational lifespan of 30 years.
They include a development contribution of €300,000 and a provision of a Glint and Glare Assessment with a focus on the impact the installation could have on road safety.
