South Roscommon's Emer Kelly pulls out of general election race

South Roscommon councillor Emer Kelly will not be contesting the general election after giving it serious consideration.

She topped the poll in the local elections in the Athlone local electoral area in June, at the age of only 24.

She previously didn't rule out joining Michael Fitzmaurice's Independent Ireland party, but now says she will be staying entirely Independent.

Councillor Kelly says she won't be going for a seat in the Dáil this time around.
