People living near the Shannon in the Tarmonbarry, Lanesborough, & Lough Ree areas are being alerted to a special light and sound show tonight.
The show involves a series of lights beaming into the sky and surrounds which are fixed to a boat floating down the river.
People can also tune into a specially composed soundscape to listen to while they watch the light show which can be seen from 7 kilometres away.
Lighting Designer Mathew Cregan said he has worked in the past on similar shows in Dublin but he and Light Artist Mick Murray had decided they wanted to make it more accessible for everyone.
The soundscape for the Light Ballet can be accessed at Lightballet.eu
