Members of the public in Longford are being encouraged to attend a special event at Connolly Barracks in the county town this evening.
The Light Brigade' is one of the biggest such art installations ever staged in Ireland and it opened in the barracks garden last night.
The event celebrates the history of the cavalry barracks, and involves 18 life sized 'lantern horses' as well as eighty other smaller 'leaf' lanterns.
The installation opened to the public last night and will run this evening, and tomorrow evening from 5 until 8pm.
The arts event , which is free of charge, will be accompanied this evening by fire-drawing by a local pyrotechnics company, and music from a local rock band at 6 o' clock this evening.
