St. Brigid’s GAA Club notes week ending, January 31st 2021
Club AGM: We held a very well-attended online AGM last Friday evening.
In a wide-ranging address, our Chairperson Michael McDonnell told the AGM that it was an extremely difficult 2020 for many who were facing uncertainty, loneliness and an inability to participate in the things that we enjoy the most.
McDonnell said that we could not forget that there were some fantastic moments throughout 2020 that will long be remembered for the joy, pride and satisfaction that we savored from our teams on the football field, such as the return of the Fahey cup to Kiltoom; our adult ladies bouncing back to senior football and the completion of a fifth successive minor boys title in a row.
He also commended the great campaign of our Junior A footballers whose county final appearance was postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions, along with the good work of the Junior B team management in terms of providing games for players.
Over the course of his address, our Chairperson paid rich tributes to the many volunteers, including those involved in ensuring Covid19 compliance, team managers and coaches at all grades in men’s, ladies, boys and girls football, his fellow executive members, our sub-committees including the Ladies sub-committee, our lotto team and our sponsors especially the Hodson Bay Hotel group and O’Rourke Fireplaces.
Michael went on to highlight the importance of our club lotto which he said more than ever was critical to sustaining the running of our club.
He was also glad to note that we had now reached the point where work would start on our new development once Covid-19 restrictions were eased.
He added here that he looked forward to the club holding its 2021 AGM in our new meeting room.
In conclusion, our Chairperson thanked the membership for their continued support and looked forward to another memorable 2021 for the club on and off the field.
