St Peter's Athlone landed the Roscommon and district league title with a 3-2 win over Castlerea Celtic on Saturday night.
Castlerea Celtic needed just a share of the spoils to land their first championship in four years and went into the break level at one-all.
St. Peter’s took the lead on 14 minutes when Mark Sherlock volleyed John McCrossan’s left wing cross. Castlerea equalised on 34 minutes Jack Higgins equalising from close range.
Mark Sherlock’s restored St. Peter’s lead 90 seconds into the second half finding the net from the edge of the box finding the bottom corner of the net.
Darragh Concanon free kick half way through the second-half made it 3-1 but Castlerea fought back, Peter Farrell pulled one back with five minutes remaining, but St. Peter’s hung on to land the title.
