Staff at a Roscommon based healthcare firm are still yet to receive their COVID bonus payment.
In January of last year, the Government announced a €1000 tax free bonus for healthcare workers.
However, one year on, staff at RHS Homecare in Roscommon have still not received the payment.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show, general manager with RHS, Patrick Towey, says carers worked on the frontline during the COVID pandemic and the continuing delays have affected staff morale.
"It has to be remembered that when all that happened, the nurses and carers got suited and booted. They put on their PPE, got masks, put on their gloves, and went into a working environment where we were told , as the ordinary joe, that it's a virus that we don't know a lot about yet but what we do know is it's highly contagious and it could kill you. But the carers went out and done that. They got suited and booted and went out into it. The payment is highly deserved and it's well past the date that they should be getting it".
