Staff and Management at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home in Longford have been praised in a new HIQA inspection report.
The facility outside of Longford Town is home to 113 residents requiring long and short term care.
An unannounced inspection took place at the end of June, with inspectors interviewing staff, management and residents.
Following interviews with service users, residents were found to be happy with the care they received and spoke of the close relationships they formed with staff over the course of the pandemic.
They were also found to have control over how they spent their day and had input into the wider management of the care facility.
The report also highlighted some areas of concern at the Longford Centre in areas including staffing, fire precautions and governance.
In the area of training, some staff had been found to have not completed relevant training in the area of their work, while staffing levels in some circumstances were noted as insufficient.
Infection control and fire precautions also required review in areas such as cleaning, evacuations and updated floor plans.
In the area of resident's rights, complaints and family visits, the centre was found to be fully compliant.
In a statement to Shannonside Northern Sound today, Laurel Lodge Management confirmed that all concerns highlighted in the report have been immediately addressed.
According to management, staff shortages across the sector are hitting care homes extremely hard, with an intensive recruitment drive underway across Europe.
