A planned inspection of a Roscommon disability centre has highlighted several areas in need of improvement.
Fuchsia Services in Roscommon cater for up to 13 adults between three houses.
The centre, run by the Brothers of Charity, was the subject of an inspection in September.
Inspectors found residents at the centre were happy living in a relaxed environment and were supported by staff effectively.
Some residents had complained that day services had not resumed since the onset of the Covid pandemic, with the issue highlighted by HIQA staff.
While the centre was found to be fully compliant under headings such as training, staff development, infection control and risk management, it was confirmed that several other areas require attention.
Staffing issues for one of the houses making up the centre were in need of review, while gaps were noted in certain records in the service.
Elsewhere at Fuchsia Services, the premises was found to need works at two of the three houses, with upgrades and maintenance having taken place since the inspection according to management.
Fire safety issues highlighted in the September inspection have since been rectified at the Roscommon centre, including the installation of a fire door.
Overall the residents reported that they liked living in the centre and were being supported to enjoy a good quality of life.
Centre management has confirmed to HIQA that an action strategy has been put in place since the inspection to address all issues highlighted.
