Staffing levels at the Roscommon Minor Injury Unit have received a boost this week with the appointment of a new high level medical professional to the facility.
Saolta Hospital group has announced that a new Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner has been assigned to the unit.
Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioners are the highest level of clinical experts in the nursing profession who have an expanded scope of practice, greater clinical autonomy and decision-making responsibilities.
The role is being taken by Patricia Larkin, an experienced nurse who's worked for 20 years at Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore in areas including general medicine, surgical nursing and Arthroplasty.
The appointment brings the number of R.A.N.P's in the Injury unit to three, with the facility recording close to a 40 percent increase in attendance levels over the last 2 years.
