Planning permission has been granted for the erection of a statue to honour a double All-Ireland winning football captain in Roscommon.
The statue will be placed in Knockcroghery village in memory of Jimmy 'Jamesie' Murray who led the county to back-to-back Sam Maguires.
Plans include a limestone statue of the football legend and new access paths to it in the centre of Knockcroghery.

The statue will be carved from limestone donated by Lecarrow Quarries and local stonemason Mark Feeley has been commissioned to complete the project.
Jimmy Murray was captain of the Roscommon senior football team which won All-Ireland titles in 1943 and 1944.
He passed away in 2007 in his 90th year but his family still run a popular local pub in the South Roscommon village.
