A status red weather alert has been issued for Co. Leitrim from 11pm tonight. The warning is in place until 3am tomorrow morning with Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Galway and Clare also included. Meanwhile, Roscommon and Longford have been both issued with status orange alerts. The warning for Roscommon comes into effect from 8pm tonight and in Longford from 10pm with both warnings expiring at 10am tomorrow morning.
The Shannonside region is currently under a yellow warning for rain since 10am. The RSA is advising road-users to take extreme care. Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says once the storm passes, conditions will improve:
