The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in hospitals across the Shannonside region is steadily increasing.
There were 52 confirmed cases of the virus across Portiuncula, Sligo, Galway, and Mullingar hospitals as of 8pm yesterday
Earlier this week, the minister for health warned of a 'twindemic' of flu and covid. While figures nationwide are certainly increasing, the Shannonside region is remaining relatively stable.
There are 52 confirmed cases in hospitals in the region. It compares to a figure of 40 on the 23rd of September and 33 on the 5th of September. Galway University Hospital currently has 23 confirmed cases and 5 suspected cases while Sligo has 16 confirmed cases. Mullingar is dealing with 9 confirmed cases and Portiuncula with 4.
Currently, there are 399 people in hospital with the virus nationally, an increase of 107 over 2 weeks
