Works on the streetscape in a North Roscommon town have commenced this week.
The development is taking place in Boyle town centre and will involve the upgrade of Bridge Street and Shop Street, as well as the former Royal Car Park.
Footpaths will be widened, cabling laid underground including ducting for fibre broadband, along with new decorative street lighting.
Car parking will be restricted on each side of the bridge to allow the extension of the footpaths.
The existing Royal Hotel car park will be remodeled to provide 78 new car parking spaces, including those for disabled access.
Traffic management restrictions will be in place for the duration of the project, with works estimated to be completed by early summer of next year.
