A longstanding Strokestown business says it could be forced to lay off staff if the controversial revamp of the town goes ahead. The state recently allocated almost €8 million to a public realm enhancement project in the town.
But some residents and businesses are very concerned that up to 90 per cent of car-parking spaces in the town will be removed. Frank Hanly, the owner of Hanly's Eurospar in Strokestown, says it could have a serious impact on his business.
