St.Brigids moved to the top of group A in the Hudson Bay Hotel Roscommon senior football championship with a 14 points to 1-7 win over Strokestown.
Brigids didn’t have it their own way and trailed by a point at the break 0-6 to 1-4 after Strokestowns David Neary converted a penalty on 16 minutes.
However a free each from Ben O’Carroll and Ciaran Surgrue moved Brigids one clear after four second half minutes.
Strokestown responded with a Colin Compton free with Ben O’Carroll and Compton exchanging points leaving level at 1-6 to 0-9 on the second water break.
From the water break Strokestown regained their lead with a Cian Corcoran point, but that was their last score of the game as points from Brian Derwin (2), Eoin Sheeey and Ben O’Carroll sealed Brigids win.
Brigids sit top of Group A with Elphin meeting Clann Na nGael on Saturday evening, a game live on Shannonside from 7pm.
