A Local TD and Government Minister believes there is 100 percent agreement among his party for the removal of the eviction ban at the end of this month.
Junior Minister Peter Burke says he is confident that Fine Gael Ministers, TDs and Councillors support the move to end the ban.
A Sinn Fein motion to extend the ban is to be discussed tomorrow before going to a Daíl vote on Wednesday.
Minister Burke's comments come after Green Party TD Neasa Hourigan said she'll go against the Government on Wednesday and will back the Sinn Fein motion.
Speaking to Let's Talk this afternoon, The Longford/Westmeath TD and Minister of State says retaining the ban will cause further destabilization of the rental market.
'Absolutely I'm confident and we will be the first to continue with the ban if we thought it would make a difference because if you look at the facts, the key thing is over the period the eviction ban was in place homeless figures increased and the concern is that we need new investors to come in and put property into the market and we need construction to continue increase in building rapidly'.
