No conclusion has been reached in an ongoing issue with student accommodation in Sligo according to a local TD.
Sligo Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry has warned that between four and five hundred people could be left without a place to live in September.
Students received an email earlier this month, stating accommodation would not be offered in Benbulben or Milligan Court from September.
The company was awarded a tender by the Department of Integration, for the apartments to be used as accommodation for refugees.
A government spokesperson says the contracts haven't been signed yet, and discussions are underway with the Department of Higher Education.
Deputy MacSharry says the government must act and put a stop to the plans.
"What ever the government need to do to reverse the flawed tender which allowed them, backed by lucrative contracts, to compete against students and families based here in Ireland looking for accommodation while we know there's an accommodation crisis. So, whatever the government need to do, whether they need to buy the company out of the tender or whatever, that needs to happen because there's no conclusion to it yet, but the fight goes on".
