A feasibility study is to be carried out into the development of a community solar panel park in Mohill.
The Department of Rural and Community Development has granted €18,000 for the initiative which will examine potential sites, grid capacity, ownership models and planning considerations.
The project is likely to start in February 2021 and will include consultation with Mohill's Sustainable Energy Community, the Town Team and other community stakeholders.
Leitrim County Council led the application which arises out of the county's status within the Atlantic Economic Corridor, a wider collaborative programme that focuses on economic and regional development for the west of Ireland.
