Supercars of all shapes and makes are set to take to the roads of the Shannonside Region this morning.
The Bumblebee 1000 charity road trip is set to pass through Westmeath and Roscommon over the course of this morning and afternoon. The fundraising event will see dozens of high end modern and classic super cars move through Athlone and Roscommon at around 11.30 am and 1pm respectively. Those in the Coosan, Lecarrow and Knockcroghery areas will also get a chance to view the convoy, as the cars continue their first day's journey to Westport.
Day two will see the cars move from Mayo to West Cork, while the convoy will travel from there to the east of the rebel county on the final day. The event is raising money for the Little Blue Heroes Foundation, a not for profit charity that aims to help families in need who have children undergoing long-term medical treatment for serious illnesses.
