A Roscommon solicitor, currently under suspension, has been ordered to appear in court next month over an alleged debt.
The district court clerk in Roscommon has ordered the appearance of Declan O 'Callaghan, of a current unknown address, but previously of Ardeevan, Ballaghaderreen on the 9th of September next.
The court in Ballaghaderreen is seeking his appearance on foot on application by creditors John O'Dwyer and Evan O'Dwyer, of Bridge Street, Ballyhaunis, County Mayo.
The men, who are part of a County Mayo law firm, claim that an order made at Galway Circuit Court in December 2018 means Mr O' Callaghan must pay them a total of €70,000.
The Roscommon man is also being asked to furnish a statement of means to the court prior to any appearance at the District Court, outlining his current financial status.
In the court order, published this week, Mr O’Callaghan, who had his licence as a solicitor suspended in 2018 by the High Court, is also warned that if he does not appear further legal action will ensue which may lead to his arrest or imprisonment.
The case will be heard at Ballaghaderreen District Court at midday on September 9th next.
