A symbolic boat journey will take place on Lough Key in Roscommon this afternoon to mark the return of an ancient tradition.
An island on Lough Key called Holy Trinity Island is the last known recorded location where Annals were written since the 400's detailing the main events of each year.
A project to revive the Annals has begun in the last year with global, all-Island, and local events recorded on special parchment with organic natural inks in a mediaeval style.
The Annals of 2020 will be brought on a wooden boat to Doon Shore from Holy Trinity Island this afternoon at half past one where a formal welcome will take place.
