Syrian people living in the Shannonside region have welcomed the end of Bashar al-Assad's dictatorship of their country. There were scenes of celebration among the Syrian community here after the country's former leader was overthrown earlier this week. The country's main rebel commander has met with the country's Prime Minister to discuss a smooth transition of power. Abu Mohammed al-Jolani says he expects a transitional government will be in place within days though Syria remains extremely unstable.
The United Nations Security Council, which met behind closed doors last night, has expressed surprise at how quickly the former President was deposed. There is nervousness among the international community and exiled Syrians about what comes next.
