The Tánaiste says the government is considering making it illegal to plant trees near powerlines.
Simon Harris was questioned on the issue by Roscommon-Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice in the Dáil yesterday.
It comes as around 1,500 homes and businesses in the Shannonside region remain without power - two weeks after Storm Eowyn.
Deputy Fitzmaurice told the Tánaiste to take action to prevent more trees falling on wires.
Responding to Deputy Fitzmaurice, the Tánaiste said the government is looking into the issue.
