Sinn Fein have been calling on the Tanaiste to step down after gardai confirmed they are investigating the Fine Gael leader's leaking of a GP document

The Tánaiste says he didn’t do anything illegal or corrupt when he leaked a confidential GP document. Sinn Fein is calling on Leo Varadkar to resign after he passed the file onto a friend two years ago.

Mary Lou McDonald has asked to meet with Micheál Martin about the leak which is now subject to a garda investigation. A spokesperson for the Taoiseach says he’s no intention of doing this.

Leo Varadkar says the document wasn’t a cabinet secret or classified and says the gardai haven’t been in touch with him yet. The Minister of State for Trade Promotion Robert Troy works in the same government department as the Tanaaiste.
