The Tanaiste has agreed to contact the HSE to release the findings of an independent report into the death of Longford woman Byronny Sainsbury. Byronny Sainsbury suffered fatal injuries following an incident with a horse in August 2021 and was rushed to Mullingar Hospital. She passed away less than a week later in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, with Byronny's parents raising concerns over the treatment given to their daughter in Mullingar Hospital.
An inquest into the death of the popular hairdresser earlier this month returned a verdict of Medical Misadventure, highlighting 'a catalogue of failures' while being treated in Mullingar. An independent report into her care was due to be concluded in June 2023, however the results of which have yet to be released to Byronny's family. The issue was raised in the Dail recently by Longford/Westmeath TD Joe Flaherty:
