The Tánaiste will visit flood-affected Lough Funshinagh in Roscommon next month. Micheál Martin yesterday confirmed he would meet with residents local public representatives there on 31st of May. It comes as two families were forced to evacuate their homes in the Curraghboy area due to rising water levels.
Roscommon County Council closed the main Curraghboy to Athleague road in recent weeks as pumps work around the clock to hold floodwater back. Local councillor Laurence Fallon has welcomed the Tánaiste's visit but expressed disappointment that residents would be left waiting another month.
