The Taoiseach has told Scoil Mhuire in Carrick-on-Shannon that a decision will be made in the next week or so about their long-awaited new school building. The school's pupil numbers have doubled over the past 10 years, and there are children from 41 different countries. The school is spread over two different campuses and there is an overcrowding problem.
They are campaigning for a new school building on a new site in the town. Taoiseach Simon Harris met the school committee on a visit to Carrick yesterday - and principal Caroline Healy said it was positive.
