Taoiseach Simon Harris says he hopes to meet Ballaghaderreen native Tori Towey after her ordeal in Dubai. The 28-year-old was charged with alcohol consumption and attempted suicide, after allegedly being the victim of domestic violence.
She was initially detained in Dubai, but the travel ban was lifted and the charges were dropped after the Irish government intervened. She arrived home in Boyle yesterday, and the Taoiseach says her experience was appalling:
