Taoiseach to officially open Colm Horkan Memorial Pitch this weekend

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be performed by the Taoiseach and the Garda Band will also perform on the day.

The new Colm Horkan Memorial Pitch and Community Walkways will be officially opened this Sunday by Taoiseach Simon Harris. Detective Garda Colm Horkan was shot dead in Castlerea in June 2020. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be performed by the Taoiseach and the Garda Band will also perform on the day.

The Charlestown senior ladies' team will play an exhibition game against the Templemore College Garda team, followed by the Senior men's team playing against a representative team from An Garda Siochana. The event is due to get underway at 1pm. Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Colm's brother Dermot, wanted to thank all the people involved in making the event happen:
