A new historic exhibition centre will be officially opened in Longford today
The Rose Cottage located in Ballinalee received funding to renovate the site last year totalling €236,000.
The location was the home of General Sean Mac Eoin during the War of Independence.
The new Rose Cottage War of Independence Centre will be officially opened by the Taoiseach this afternoon with a number of events planned.
The new centre will be open to the public from 12:30 until 2pm which will be followed by a re-enactment of the Battle of Ballinalee at the crossroads at 2pm.
Road closures will be in place from 2pm until 4pm to faciliate this and motorists are advised to follow diversions.
